I bought these shoes back in the spring of 2007 while on a school trip to New York City. They were only ten dollars, and at the time I was practically incapable of passing up anything that cost that much or less. I also though that they looked like they could have belonged to Marie Antoinette (or a kitschier, ie ever cooler, version of her), which further sealed the deal.

In the time four years since purchasing them, I had worn these shoes approximately one time.
I held onto them because they were beautiful, and because maybe, just maybe, someday I would have a need for bedazzled, ill-fitting, French Court kitten heels.

Finally, yesterday, I let them go; I donated them in their original box (baby pink with hearts) and only hope that someone else will see in them what I did.

So, Matilda's strong young mind continued to grow; nurtured by all those authors who'd sent their books out into the world. Like ships onto the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: "you are not alone."

As I sort through my possessions, struggling with attachment to personified objects and guilt, I should remember that I'm not saying goodbye; I'm sending these things out into the world, to be enjoyed by someone else who will, hopefully, be as influenced by them as I have been.

Who knows why.

April was a dead month, I'm sorry.

Surprise-result photos. At what point does something like this pass from lame to art, and vice-versa. Am I a fraud for practicing "photography"?

Suddenly I have a plan: reworking, adding, subtracting, blowing up. Stay tuned.
